The Slacks Creek Tragedy

In the early hours of 23 August 2011, a tragic house fire in Slacks Creek, Queensland claimed the lives of 11 people, including eight children, making it the deadliest residential fire in Australian history. The fire began just before midnight in the downstairs office area of the home. The lack of working smoke alarms meant no early warning for the sleeping occupants.
